ABOUT
This was the first concept in Mila’s collection of plant-headed figures. It’s taken 2 years to finish. This piece is about the importance of your environment when it comes to growth and success. The main character is a wilting Daisy. Deprived of sunlight and lacking hydration, slowly dying. The piece is meant to illustrate that without the proper resources, support, love, etc growth can become a struggle. One slowly starts to lose their petals. A gray scale flower is placed in the foreground to represent the lack of life and vibrancy we adopt once we finally give into this type of environment. Everything is dark, and gray except the Daisy because she still has hope, though it is slowly fading. There are two Aleve pills inside an intentionally positioned hand. Aleve is taken mostly to reduce pain/inflammation. Its common to turn to sex and drugs to “reduce our pain” when we feel like we are “falling apart.”

It IS difficult to grow here, but not impossible…
