My work is known for celebrating black culture and exploring its relationship to nature and music. As an artist, I pride myself on creating work that does one of the following for the viewer: uplifts, inspires, or educates. My best work does all three. Growing up I loved reading books and enjoyed all the illustrations of story time. It was then that I realized the narrative in which people are showcased dictates the perception society has of them. Becoming an artist was a choice to use my gift to reframe the narrative of my people, myself, and who we will be remembered as by the generations to come.
