BLACK IS KING
During the month of February Mila will be releasing 8 Limited Edition King and Queen Paintings. These artworks will take on the traditional card deck theme by having a set of diamonds, hearts, spades, and clubs. Each set will consist of two original paintings and 50 Limited Edition Prints available for purchase.
20% of all proceeds will go to purchasing Black Children’s Books from We Are Lit, a black-owned book store in Grand Rapids, Michigan. Mila believes in empowering not only fellow business owners, but also using her art as a means to create change in the communities she spends time in.

ABOUT
Barack is the 44th President of the United States, and also the first black president. He was known for increasing affordable healthcare, decreasing the unemployment rate, making same sex marriage legal, winning the Nobel Peace Prize in 2009, and many more things. I chose to paint him smiling because he looks genuinely happy, and he looks completely enamored with the Michelle Painting sitting next to him.

ABOUT
Michelle Obama is not only the 44th First Lady of the United States, but also a “diamond” all by herself. She is an author, creator of the Let’s Move Campaign, a Harvard Graduate, and the list goes on. Funny enough while creating this piece, I did not realize there was a twist on the Statue of Liberty accidentally incorporated due to my color choice. Once it was brought to my attention, I loved it that much more.
